Vietnam Self Drive - All Things You Need To Know Before renting a car in Vietnam, there are several things you should know to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience:

Traffic in Vietnam can be very chaotic, especially in big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Motorbikes are a popular mode of transportation, and they often weave in and out of traffic, so you'll need to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

It's also common for drivers to honk their horns frequently, which can be jarring if you're not used to it.

Road conditions: While major roads and highways in Vietnam are generally well-maintained, rural roads may be in poorer condition.

You may encounter potholes, uneven surfaces, or roads that are not well-marked, so it's important to drive slowly and cautiously.

Rules of the road: While road signs in Vietnam follow the international system, not all drivers follow the rules of the road.

It's a good idea to have a physical map on hand as a backup.

Language: As I mentioned earlier, many road signs in Vietnam are written in both Vietnamese and English, but not all signs may be in English.

It's a good idea to familiarize yourself with some basic Vietnamese phrases so you can communicate with locals if you need directions or assistance.

Despite these challenges, self-driving in Vietnam can be a great way to explore the country at your own pace and discover hidden gems off the beaten path.
