Why is renting a car more expensive than in other Asian countries like Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia?

 

The selling price of cars in Vietnam is approximately twice that of Thailand and Indonesia because we must import cars from these countries. 

Cars are subject to a consumption tax, a value-added tax, and an import tax (with the exception of domestically produced cars). All of them charge around 12%.

Vehicles are also subject to multiple fees for registration, inspection, road maintenance, license plates, and compulsory civil liability insurance.
