How to go to Dong Thap?

Starting in Saigon, from District 6 (An Lac roundabout) or District 7 (Trung Luong Expressway), you can reach National Highway 1A. From National Highway 1A, go straight to My Thuan Bridge, there is a fork in Dong Thap.

Then turn right in that direction, run about 20km more through Lai Vung town, meet the big fork, turn right for another 25km, then you will reach Cao Lanh.

If you want to keep your strength and rest on a tourist bus, from Saigon, you can buy a bus ticket to Dong Thap at the Western bus station (395 Kinh Duong Vuong, An Lac ward, Binh Tan district, HCMC) or of other hotels prestigious car company on Le Hong Phong street.

Xeo Quyt relic area

From An Huu to Cao Lanh city, you will immediately encounter the Xeo Quyt relic area in the territory of two communes My Long and My Hiep, Cao Lanh district with an area of 50ha, of which 20ha is Melaleuca forest.

Originally a military base, from 1960-1975 of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee during the resistance war against the US, Xeo Quyt is now a famous tourist area.

The A-shaped bomb shelters, L-shaped personal secret bunkers, Z-shaped battle fortifications, etc. of the revolutionary forces were restored intact as before.

Here, the ecological environment is also very diverse with more than 170 species of plants: Melaleuca, clam, reed, brooch, lotus, water lily... and 200 species of wild animals - of which 13 species are recorded in the Red Book of Vietnam.

Males such as: moldy pythons, buffalo cobras, otters, box turtles... That's why people call Xeo Quyt a miniature Dong Thap Muoi. Xeo is "little creek" - roughly understood as a small canal, small stream of water, tangerine is the name of the tree.

We can explore this relic by walking the trails, or canoeing along the small creeks.

 

Pho Bang Mausoleum

The relic area of Nguyen Sinh Sac Vice-president (the place of worshiping Nguyen Sinh Sac - President Ho Chi Minh) was inaugurated on December 13, 1977.

The relic is located on Pham Huu Lau street, 1km from the center in Cao Lanh city. Currently, this work has been expanded by 6.3 hectares (raising the total area of the relic site to more than 9 hectares).

With a total cost of 95 billion VND, including items: a display house about the life and career of Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac, working house, garden, reconstructing a corner of the old Hoa An village (now Hoa Thuan ward, Cao Lanh city). 

The place where Nguyen Sinh Sac first came to live and work as a doctor to treat diseases for patients people.

 

Tram Chim National Park – Tam Nong

Tram Chim - Tam Nong National Park has a natural area of 7,612 ha, located in 5 communes: Tan Cong Sinh, Phu Duc, Phu Tho, Phu Thanh, Phu Hiep and Tram Chim town - Tam Nong district, Dong Thap province .

It has a beautiful natural landscape along with an extremely rich ecosystem of about 130 different plant species, and this place is also home to hundreds of vertebrate species, dozens of fish species. and more than 198 species of waterfowl, accounting for about a quarter of all bird species found in Vietnam.

They are listed in the world's red book to be protected because they are in danger of extinction in the world. Tram Chim National Park is recognized as the 4th Ramsar site in Vietnam and the 2000th in the world.

Every year from the end of December to the beginning of May is the time when the cranes fly to Tram Chim to reside. Coming here at this time, you will witness flocks of red-crowned cranes flying back to join other birds to feed.

Currently, Tram Chim National Park is invested by the State, upgraded and expanded into a nature museum, an attractive eco-tourism center. Many international conservation organizations have also funded to protect the diverse ecosystems in this region.

 

Sa Dec flower village

One of the ornamental flower centers of the South, located in Tan Qui Dong commune, Sa Dec town, with an area of about 60 hectares, with 600 households - 3,600 workers specializing in flowers and ornamental plants.

Visitors can see here rare ornamental plants, hundreds of years old. There are very idyllic trees close to the life of workers such as star fruit, areca, boom, fig, si, apricot ... through skillful, diligent, talented hands, with the artist's soul of artists. Humans have become precious ornamental plants with beautiful and strange shapes.

Dinh Yen commune in Lap Vo district - Dong Thap has had a long-standing mat weaving profession. Previously, people were busy working in the fields or weaving mats during the day, so they were only free at night and had mats for sale.

The same goes for merchant ships and boats, trading in other places during the day and returning to buy at night. Therefore, the mat market often meets at night in the thin smoke of the torch and the cool breeze on the river.
