The Mekong delta is the region where the Mekong River approached and empties to the sea by network of river and cannel interlaced. The Mekong delta region is a large of portion of southeastern Vietnam of 40,000 square kilometers with 18 million populations.
Day 1 : Ho Chi Minh - My Tho - Ben Tre - Cantho
● At 8:00 in morning our guide / driver will pick you up at your location in Ho Chi Minh city for Mekong delta tour (Ben Tre & My Tho). Travel 2 hours on the car we pass by a beautiful picture of paddy rice field and dragon fruit farms and we can see how is the Vietnamese farmer working in a large of field without machines, most of them working by tranditional way using pair hands.
● After arrived at My Tho village, you will ride on a local motor boat and have a sightseeing tour of Dragon Island, Turtle Island (view from the boat) and stop at the Unicorn Island. While at the Unicorn Island, you will visit natural pure honey at a bee farm, taste some honey tea. Walking around the island to see the local people daily life and watching Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) and seasonal tropical fruit can be tasted.
● Especially is we have a chance to try ride a sampan boat (kayak boat) on a canal with both sides covered by water coconut. “Vietnamese call xuồng ba lá, three part of wooden connected".
● Leaving the Unicorn island we pass by the Phoenix island the riverside of Ben Tre to visit the coconut candy workshop (the famous candy in mekong delta must taste).
● Getting another motorboat ride deeper we will stop at local restaurant for lunch on the island.
● At 15:00 pm tour will be ended after meals and drink a fresh coconut on the way back to mainland.
● Proceed to Can Tho City 2h30 minutes by private car transfers from Ben Tre.
Can Tho city is the fourth biggest city in Vietnam, and the biggest city in the Mekong Delta. Center of economic and commercial with nickname the Western capital. The city located on the South bank of the Hau River, a distributary of the Mekong River. Which place had combined combination a lot of culture Vietnamese – Chinese – Khmer – Cham.
● At 16:30 pm we will stop at Pitu Khôsa Răngsây pagoda (Khmer pagoda Southern), the famous pagoda should visit to learning about culture Buddhism Khmer in Vietnam.
● At 17:00 pm check in hotel. Free and easy to exploring the city (Ninh Kieu Wharf with a lot of restaurant, bar, coffee shop… should be trying as your free and easy time).
Overnight at Cantho.
Day 2: Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market – Tra Su Forest Chau Doc
The Cai Rang Floating Market is the biggest and most crowed in Mekong delta.
Located on Can Tho river (top 10 of manual canals in world). This floating market is six kilometers away from the center of Can Tho city and about 30 minutes away from Ninh Kieu Wharf by boat. Similar to Cai Be Floating market Cai Rang was initially formed to meet the trading needs of the locals while the road traffic system was still separated by rivers.
● At 6:00 am, we set off the motorboat at Ninh Kieu Wharf going to Cai Rang Floating Market, pick up the sunrise with the breeze of the river, seeing the daily life of the local along the way. Do not forget take a nice photos with your camera.
● Upon your arrival, you will notice the extremely lively and crowded trading atmosphere of Cai Rang Floating Market. Stare in awe when you see the smooth performances of traders juggling fruit from boat to boat. Interestingly, in the middle of such a bustling trading scene, you will still somehow find strangely comfortable moments while immersing in the rustic lifestyle of the Vietnamese.
● Get on the roof of the boat breathing in the cool breeze of the great river and eating a fresh pineapple would be good experience.
● Leaving the market, motorboat will ride you to local fruit gardens. At here you will walk around seeing a lot of fruit trees, flower buds, fruits still on bough… some kinds of them you might not see before.
● We are coming to local house for learning how the local people make the noodle?
It is very interesting - husks are separated from rice. Ground the rice and made rice flour, added water and made pancake like batter. Very thin crepes were made on skillet and dried for 2-3 hours and then cut into noodles.
● Come back to mainland and visit land market of An Binh before checking out of the Cantho hotel.
● At 11:00 am, continue journey to Chau Doc Town to visit the Tra Su Cajeput forest (20 kilometers away from town, 22 kilometers to Cambodia border). This is the natural mangrove forest. Tra Su Forest stretches out a total area of 850 hectares, featured with a diversity and abundant ecological system. The flora includes over 140 species; among them, cajuputs cover almost all the area. The forest is the habitat for many colonies of insects, reptile, water birds, bats and various others such as rare and endangered animals.
● Arrival at Tra Su Cajuputs forest after 3 hours driving, we get on board of motorboat to go deeper forest watching storks, cranes and other tropical birds. Around 20 minutes to contemplate the natural sights, you will take to the rowing sampan (about 15 minutes) to watch birds (seasonal). Afterwards, we will take 500-meter walking to get to the 25-meters high observation post to enjoy the fascinating view over the mountain in the area, the expanses of cajuputs forest and the white dots of flying storks.
● Tra Su Forest tour will be ended 3 hours after.
● At 16:00 pm we are going back to hotel in Chau Doc Town. Check in and enjoy your leisure time by your own.
Day 3: Chau Doc port to Phnombenh Cambodia (5hours by speed boat)
● At 6:30 am, our driver will pick you up at hotel to transfer to Chau Doc port.
